Kingfisher Police Department reports

The Kingfisher Police Department has investigated or responded to the following reports:

December 1 - Complaint. Officer Aaron Schlegel took a report of damage to a vehicle in the Walmart parking lot.

According to the report, Lynda Farris, Kingfi sher, called the police department to report she had been parked in the Walmart parking lot when a gust of wind caught her vehicle’s door causing it to strike the vehicle in the adjacent parking space. According to the report, the damage was a small dent in the passenger front door.

Schlegel stated in his report that he took photographs of the damage, collected information from Farris and would contact the owner of the damaged vehicle regarding the incident.

December 3 - Driving with license canceled/suspended/revoked, no insurance, and expired license plates.

Officer Justin Conner stated in his report that he was southbound on U.S. 81 near Oklahoma Avenue when he witnessed a northbound vehicle with an inoperable front passenger headlight and he initiated a traffic stop of the vehicle.

Conner checked the 41-year-old Kingfisher man’s identifying information and determined he did not have a valid driver’s license according to the report. Conner also stated in his report that dispatch advised him that the vehicle’s license plate was expired and there was no insurance on the vehicle.

Conner impounded the vehicle and issued the driver three citations for driving with license canceled/suspended/revoked, no insurance and expired license plates.

December 3 - Obstructing officer, driving with license canceled/suspended/ revoked, escape from custody, reckless driving, failure to stop at stop sign. Offi cer Justin Trumbley stated in his report that at about 1:20 a.m he noticed a vehicle backed into a parking space on the east side of Pioneer, 202 W. Broadway, with the driver sitting in the vehicle and the engine on.

According to the report, Trumbley questioned the man regarding why he was parked there and requested the man’s identification. The 29-year-old man reportedly stated he was using the wifi but refused to give the officer his driver’s identification and later stated that he did not have the identification with him, but gave the officer a casino card with his name on it.

Dispatch advised Trumbley that the man possibly had a warrant in Harper County. According to the report, Trumbley questioned the man regarding the warrant and the man initially denied having a warrant, but later admitted he did. The man then fl ed the scene northbound on 7th Street, failing to stop at a stop sign at 7th Street and Miles Avenue and then turned east on Robberts Avenue, according to the report.

Trumbley stated in his report that he did not pursue the man because he had knowledge of the man’s identity and outstanding warrant.

The man was charged with obstructing an offi cer, driving with license canceled/suspended/revoked, escape from custody, reckless driving, and failure to stop at stop sign.

Officers Sam Ridenhour and Dillon Chaloupek assisted with the investigation.

December 4 - Burglary. Officer Ryan Gibson responded to a report of a burglary at a residence in the 600 block of South Third Street.

According to the report, Brianna Hertensen stated that when she returned home from work she noticed the curtains were closed and that they were open when she left for work.

Gibson stated in his report that he checked the house with Hertensen and she indicated a Chromebook was missing from her night stand. The estimated value of the Chromebook was $189.

December 6 - Public intoxication and obstructing offi cer. Offi cer Broden Carls responded to a report of an intoxicated male walking along U.S. 81, near Love’s Country Store, 203 S. Main St.

Carls stated in his report that the male was entering Love’s when he arrived and appeared to exhibit signs of intoxication. Carls asked the 25-year-old male to exit the store and he refused, according to the report. Carls then placed the man under arrest for public intoxication and escorted him out of the store.

Carls transported the man to the county jail and the man remained uncooperative, refusing to exit the patrol car, according to the report. Offi cer Dillon Chaloupek assisted Carls in removing the man from the patrol car.

According to the report, the man began to have breathing issues and became unresponsive at the entrance to the jail. Kingfi sher EMS was called to the scene and the man was transported to Mercy Hospital Kingfisher for evaluation. The man was medically cleared and transported back to the county jail for booking.

Kingfisher County Deputy Todd Davis and jailer Wylen Noble assisted with the investigation.
