December 20 - Petit larceny, possession of drug paraphernalia prohibited, possession of dangerous drugs prohibited, receiving and/or concealing stolen property and bringing or possessing contraband in jail or penal institution. Officer Charles Trout responded to Ace Hardware, 123 E. Miles, in response to a reported theft.

Trout stated in his report that management at Ace Hardware reported a man and woman had been in the store and after they left employees found an empty box in the bathroom which had contained a 63-piece Craftsman tool set. According to the report, management reviewed their surveillance video and witnessed the man taking the tool set off the shelf and also determined three suspects had left in a green Ford Taurus.

Trout located the vehicle and three occupants in the parking lot of O’Reilly Auto Parts. A 38-year-old male and a 48-year-old female were standing outside the vehicle with the hood raised and a 52-year-old male was sitting in the back passenger seat of the vehicle, according to the report.

Trout stated in his report that when he approached the driver’s side of the vehicle he witnessed the male subject in the back seat attempting to load a magazine into a pistol. At O’Reilly’s, Atwoods’ manager approached the officers alleging the suspects had stolen a number of items from Atwoods, according to the report. Trout stated in his report that he searched the vehicle and found multiple items, as well as meth pipe containing burnt residue which the 38-year-old man reportedly admitted belonged to him.

According to the report, Trout informed the female that she was free to go, but officers would be reviewing all the surveillance video and file a warrant for her arrest if the video indicated her involvement.

Both men were arrested and transported to the county jail. During the booking process at the jail, a small bag of crystalline substance was found in the 38-year-old man’s pants pocket, which led to a charge of bringing contraband into the jail, according to the report.

Upon further investigation, Ace management reported more items had been stolen after reviewing all surveillance video of the incident, according to the report. Atwoods and Ace management provided a list of all the merchandise stolen and recovered and the value of the items to Trout at a later date.

A 38-year-old woman reportedly stated her 2019 Jeep Cherokee was missing from her residence and she suspected her mother-in-law had taken it earlier in the day.

Staton stated in his report that he made contact with the woman’s father-in-law and was gathering information regarding the incident when dispatch advised that the woman had reportedly located her vehicle traveling southbound on U.S. 81.

The driver stated she had permission to use the vehicle but the owner of the vehicle stated she had not given her permission, according to the report.

The woman was placed under arrest, but because she reportedly stated she was having abdominal pains, the officers took the woman to the emergency room to be evaluated and medically cleared before transporting her to the county jail.

The hospital staff performed tests on the woman and determined she should be further evaluated, according to the report.

According to the report, the witness stated he told the subject he needed to return the items or he would call the police, but the man left with the items.

The witness provided officers with a copy of the video, the vehicle tag number and photos of the subject. Schlegel stated in the report that they determined the identity of the suspect to be a 25-year-old male Dover resident.

According to the report, Kingfisher County Deputy Kyle Svoboda attempted to locate the suspect at his residence in Dover, but was unsuccessful.

Schlegel stated in his report that he made contact with the suspect’s wife and she stated she was unaware of the theft, but would inform the offi cers if she made contact with her husband.
