Kingfisher Police Department reports

The Kingfisher Police Department has investigated or responded to the following reports:

February 28 - Fraudulent bill of lading. Officer Dillon Chaloupek responded to a report of alleged fraud at O’Reilly Auto Parts, 1301 S. Main St.

According to the report, employees said the district manager had previously sent out an email containing the description of a man who had attempted to fraudulently return merchandise to several O’Reilly stores in the state.

The employees reportedly stated the man matching the description had been in the store, presented a receipt and requested a cash refund for a battery. The employees said they attempted to stall him while they contacted the district manager and police, but eventually exchanged the battery for cash and the man left the store, according to the report.

Chaloupek stated in his report that the employees said the district manager confirmed the battery had been stolen from an Oklahoma City O’Reilly store and there were multiple other cases involving the 48-year-old male suspect.

Chaloupek took photos of the battery and requested further information from the district manager regarding the other cases pertaining to the suspect.

Chaloupek contacted the Oklahoma City Police Department with information about the possible identity of the alleged suspect and filed a report with the District Attorney’s office regarding the case.

Officer Richard Staton assisted with the investigation.

March 3 - Carrying firearms while under the influence and public intoxication. Officer Dustin Brodrick responded to a report of a male subject urinating in the Atwoods parking lot, 1213 S. Main St.

According to the report, a witness showed Brodrick a photo he had taken of the man after he entered the store.

Brodrick located the 42-year-old male in the store and questioned him regarding the allegation of him urinating in the parking lot, which the subject denied, according to the report.

Brodrick stated in his report the subject exhibited signs of intoxication and appeared to be carrying a concealed weapon. Upon questioning, the subject reportedly stated he did have a concealed weapon on his person, but intended to leave it in the vehicle.

Brodrick retrieved the loaded firearm from the subject and placed him under arrest for public intoxication and carrying firearms while under the influence.

The subject was transported to the county jail. The firearm and ammunition were packaged and placed into evidence.

Officers Travis Gray and Richard Staton assisted with the investigation.

March 6 - Larceny of lost property. Officer Dillon Chaloupek took a report regarding possible theft of a purse at Walmart, 200 W. Starlite Dr.

A 65-year-old Kingfisher woman reportedly stated she had been shopping at Walmart and when she returned home she could not locate her purse.

According to the report, officers made contact with Walmart management regarding the incident and were provided video surveillance footage of the theft.

Chaloupek stated in his report that video footage showed the woman get into her vehicle with her purse still in the shopping cart. A man removed the purse, entered the store vestibule and then left with the purse after the woman drove away, according to the report.

Chaloupek later showed other officers, who previously worked for the Watonga Police Department, a screenshot of the man and they were able to identify the 62-year-old Watonga male from previous encounters, according to the report.

Chaloupek said in his report that he would follow up with Blaine County law enforcement and would be filing an arrest warrant for larceny of lost property against the subject.

March 7 - Speeding (15 to 19 over), driving with license canceled/ suspended/revoked, and no insurance. Officer Aaron Schlegel stated in his report that he was southbound on U.S. 81 when he witnessed a northbound vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed and initiated a traffic stop of the vehicle.

According to the report, the 33-year-old male driver stated he did not have a driver’s license or auto insurance.

The driver provided a Texas I.D. and police dispatch confirmed that his license had been canceled, according to the report. Schlegel placed the subject under arrest for speeding in excess of posted maximum speed limit, operating a motor vehicle while driver’s license is canceled and failure to comply with the compulsory insurance law.

The vehicle was inventoried and impounded.
