Kingfisher Police Department reports

The Kingfisher Police Department has investigated or responded to the following reports:

November 3 - Malicious injury/destruction of property. Officer Dustin Brodrick responded to a report of a possible burglary in the 700 block of Zellers Avenue.

Charles Markham II reportedly stated he left his residence around 5:30 a.m. and when he returned at 10:30 a.m. the back door was open and there was damage to the trim around the door.

Markham stated that he did not notice anything missing from the residence, according to the report.

November 3 - Uttering forged instruments. Officer Charles Trout responded to a report of check fraud at BancFirst, 124 S. Main St.

According to the report, BancFirst representative Vicki Rother stated a female suspect on Oct. 22 cashed a counterfeit check in the bank’s drive-thru. Rother provided a copy of the check, photograph of the suspect and vehicle and the suspect’s identifying information, the report said.

Trout stated in his report he contacted the Garfield County Sheriff’s Office regarding similar charges against the suspect in that county. The Garfield County dispatcher sent a photograph of the suspect, which matched the individual in the photograph provided by BancFirst, according to the report.

November 4 - Interfering with an officer, child endangerment, burglary-first degree, resisting executive officer. Officer Dustin Brodrick responded to a report of a disturbance at O’Reilly Auto Parts, 1301 S. Main St.

Brodrick said in his report at about 11:45 a.m. a 27-year-old male was upset about needing a battery for his vehicle and loudly arguing with his girlfriend on his cell phone in the O’Reilly parking lot. After the officer made contact with the suspect, the store manager provided a battery for the man’s vehicle and the suspect left the scene, according to the report.

At about 1 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 800 block of Kens Road in reference a burglary in progress. Upon arrival, Brodrick said in his report he witnessed the male suspect, who he had made contact with earlier at O’Reilly Auto Parts, sitting in a vehicle holding a young child.

According to the report, the suspect refused Brodrick’s commands to release the child and exit the vehicle. With Officers Justin Trumbley and Jason East’s assistance, Brodrick placed the suspect under arrest for obstructing of an officer, the report said.

Trumbley then took a statement from the victim of the attempted burglary, according to the report.

The male suspect was transported to the county jail and charged with attempted first degree burglary, obstructing an officer, resisting arrest and child endangerment.

Chief David Catron and Officer Quinton Cline assisted with the investigation.

November 4 - Domestic assault and battery. Officer Aaron Schlegel responded to a report of domestic assault that occurred in the 1200 block of Stonebrook Drive.

Officer Dion Chaloupek assisted with the investigation.

November 4 - DUI-liquor or drugs, transporting intoxicating beverage or low-point beer. Officer Dillon Chaloupek responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle in the area of South Eleventh Street and West Don Blanding Avenue.

Chaloupek stated in his report that he located the vehicle traveling south on South 13th Street without illuminated tail lights and initiated a traffic stop of the vehicle.

According to the report, upon making contact with the 46-year-old male driver, Chaloupek detected a strong odor of alcohol. Chaloupek witnessed open containers in the back seat floorboard and the driver admitted to drinking alcohol that evening, the report said.

Chaloupek administered field sobriety tests to the driver and placed the suspect under arrest for suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol, according to the report.

Officer Aaron Schlegel assisted with the investigation.

November 6 - Larceny of merchandise from retailer. Officer Aaron Schlegel responded to a report of larceny at Atwoods,1213 S. Main St.

According to the report, the Atwoods manager and a store clerk informed Schlegel that a customer had paid for an item with a debit card and a security alarm sounded when the customer exited the store.

The customer refused to stop and the manager stated that she followed the suspect into the parking lot and took photographs of the suspect’s vehicle and tag number, the report said.

The manager provided Schlegel with a copy of the customer receipt with the suspect’s debit card identification, according to the report.

Schlegel said in his report that he located the 22-year-old female suspect at her residence and after talking to her, she admitted to taking a hat from the store and returned it to the officer.

Schlegel photo graphed the evidence and returned it to Atwoods. According to the report, the manager stated she would review surveillance video to determine if that was the only item taken and provide a copy of the video to Schlegel as well.

The reported value of the hat was $26.18.

November 7 - Larceny-auto, aircraft or other motor vehicle and grand larceny. Officer Aaron Schlegel responded to a report of a stolen vehicle in the 800 block of South Third Street.

According to the report, Amanda Kelley made contact with Schlegel concerning the stolen vehicle and the officer then contacted her husband, John Kelley at the residence regarding the theft.

Kelley reportedly stated he last saw the vehicle at about 1:30 a.m. and noticed it was missing around 7 a.m. He also stated his phone and $1,160 were in vehicle, according to the report.

Schlegel entered the vehicle into the National Crime Information Center.
