Kingfisher Police Dept. reports
The Kingfisher Police Department has investigated or responded to the following reports:
December 8 - Driving while license suspended and warrant. Offi cer Dillon Chaloupek stated in his report that while he was on patrol at 10:26 p.m. he witnessed a southbound Dodge without the headlights illuminated at the stoplight of U.S. 81 and Will Rogers Drive. Chaloupek initiated a traffic stop of the vehicle and after informing the 24-year-old male driver that the headlights were not illuminated on the vehicle, the driver stated he and his girlfriend had been to the Christmas lights in Yukon and forgot to turn the headlights back on, according to the report.
Chaloupek checked the man’s driver’s license and insurance information and determined the license was revoked. Dispatch also advised Chaloupek that the man had a warrant in Garfi eld county.
The man was placed under arrest for driving with a revoked driver’s license and for the warrant. Chaloupek allowed the girlfriend to take possession of the truck and the driver was booked into the county jail.
December 9 - Leaving scene of accident. Offi cer Aaron Schlegel took a report from a 16-year-old male regarding damage to his 2019 Dodge Ram 1500.
According to the report, the 16-year-old stated that he noticed damage to the rear passenger side of his truck, which he suspected occurred at either Kingfi sher High School or O’Reilly Auto Parts. The 16-year-old stated that he contacted O’Reilly Auto Parts, the high school and B&B Liquor Store located across the street from O’Reilly Auto Parts to locate video surveillance of the incident, according to the report.
December 9 - Trespass. Officer Ryan Gibson took a report at approximately 7 p.m. from a 26-year-old female regarding need for shelter.
Gibson stated in his report that when he informed the woman he was unable to secure a place for her to spend the night, she stated that she would go to Love’s and tear up the store in order to be arrested.
At approximately 9 p.m. Gibson and Offi cer Justin Trumbley were in Love’s and witnessed the female in the store.
According to the report, the Love’s store manager stated to officers that he fi led a trespassing report against the woman on Dec. 8. The officers then informed the woman she had to leave but she reportedly refused and was placed under arrest for trespassing and transported to the county jail.
December 10 - Malicious injury/destruction of property. Officer Jason East responded to a report of an attempted burglary in the 200 block of East Broadway. According to the report, Justin Wanzer stated that he noticed the gates of his backyard had been opened and the latch to the west gate was broken, but nothing appeared to be missing.
December 14 - Larceny of lost property. Officer Richard Staton took a report from Randel Ludwig regarding theft of a cell phone.
According to the report, Ludwig stated he left his phone at the self-checkout at Walmart, 200 W. Starlite Drive, and returned a few minutes later to retrieve it, but he could not locate the phone. Ludwig asked the store manager to check the surveillance video and she reviewed the tape, but told Ludwig she could only allow a police officer to view the video, according to the report.
Staton contacted the store manager and reviewed the video surveillance. Sta-ton stated in his report that he witnessed on the video an unknown male pick up the phone, put it in his pocket and exit the store. The reported value for the Samsung S4 was $200.
December 15 - Carry firearms after conviction/ during probation (felony). Officer Ryan Gibson stated in his report that he was on patrol when he witnessed a northbound vehicle on U.S. 81 traveling 17 miles over the speed limit.
Gibson initiated a traffi c stop and requested the driver’s license and insurance. The 23-year-old male reportedly stated that he did not have his driver’s license with him, but had a picture of it on his phone. According to the report, Gibson asked dispatch to check the driver’s license number and they informed him that it was valid and clear of warrants.
Gibson stated in his report that he requested permission from the driver to search the vehicle and it was granted. Upon the search, Gibson discovered a .22 caliber rifle and requested dispatch check for felony convictions on the driver, according to the report. Dispatch advised that the driver had a felony conviction and Gibson placed the driver under arrest for possession of a firearm after felony conviction.
December 15 - Unlawful possession of paraphernalia, possession of dangerous drugs prohibited and possession of controlled substance. Officer Dillon Chaloupek stated in his report that he was on patrol when he witnessed a northbound vehicle on U.S. 81 traveling 10 mph over the speed limit and with a nonfunctioning third brake light. Chaloupek initiated a traffic stop and questioned the driver and passenger regarding possible marijuana in the vehicle. The 21-year-old male and 19-year-old male reportedly stated they were unsure if there was marijuana in the vehicle, but they had marijuana in the vehicle previously and had smoked marijuana earlier.
According to the report, Chaloupek searched the vehicle and the passenger directed the officer to the glove box which contained two jars containing a burnt substance and a green leafy substance. Chaloupek also discovered a backpack belonging to the passenger which contained a jar and two baggies containing mushrooms as well as drug paraphernalia, according to the report.
Chaloupek seized the evidence and issued citations to the subjects for unlawful possession of paraphernalia, possession of dangerous drugs and possession of controlled substance. Chaloupek and Offi cer Broden Carls photographed the evidence and field tested the green leafy substance, which tested positive for marijuana, the report said.
December 16 - Larceny of merchandise from retailer and receiving/possession/ concealing stolen property. Officer Justin Conner responded to Walmart, 200 W. Starlite Drive, regarding a theft.
Upon arrival, Conner stated in his report that he noticed a female standing outside the garden center and when he made contact with the subject she removed a package from her sweater. According to the report, Conner asked the 21-year-old female if she had stolen the item from Walmart and she admitted to the theft.
Conner stated in his report that as he was checking her identifi cation she produced another stolen item. Conner then asked the woman if there was anything thing else she had stolen and she handed the officer another item, according to the report.
The items were returned to Walmart management and Conner placed the woman under arrest for larceny of merchandise from retailer and receiving/possession/concealing stolen property. The reported value of the items was approximately $135.
According to the report, Conner transported the female to the county jail and asked her if she had anything with her that she shouldn’t have before the booking process and the woman reportedly stated she did not.
During the booking process, Conner, assisted by Jailer Veronica Padilla, discovered a driver’s license belonging to someone else and a check made payable to the subject in the woman’s wallet, according to the report.
Conner stated in his report that he attempted to collect information regarding the items in the wallet because of his suspicion the items were possibly stolen, but was unable to determine if the items were stolen at that time. The items were collected as evidence until further information could be determined, according to the report.
December 16 - Bogus check/felony value-false pretense/con game. Offi cer Dustin Brodrick responded to Atwoods, 1213 S. Main St., in regards to possible fraud.
Brodrick stated in his report that he contacted the store manager who stated two men attempted to purchase a welder with a check written for $3,860.96, but the check was declined. According to the report, the manager stated that when store employees told the men they were going to contact the police the men left the store without any merchandise.
Brodrick obtained a phone number from the check and made contact with a man who reportedly stated he was forced to write the check by the men who accompanied him or they would not give him a ride back to his home in Texas. The man also reportedly told Brodrick the men had also forced him to write checks at multiple other stores and the police were called in Stroud and the men left him stranded there.
December 17 - Indecent exposure. Officer Jason East responded to a report of indecent exposure at a business in the 300 block of North Main Street.
