The Kingfisher Police Department has investigated or responded to the following reports:

September 28 - Child neglect. Officer Charles Trout responded to a report of a child locked in a vehicle at the soccer fields in Briscoe Park. Trout stated in his report upon arrival at the soccer fields, he met with a 35-year-old woman from Piedmont. The woman reportedly stated her infant son had fallen asleep in the vehicle and she partially rolled down the windows, locked the doors and let the child sleep while she watched her daughter play soccer on the north field. According to the report, the woman stated her oldest son was periodically checking on the infant and when her car alarm sounded she ran to the vehicle and saw people removing the infant from her vehicle. Trout spoke with witnesses who reportedly stated the child was crying and after unsuccessfully trying to locate the owner of the vehicle they reached in to unlock the vehicle and removed the infant. Trout noted the temperature was approximately 80 degrees outside and took photographs of the vehicle in relation to the north soccer field. Trout reported he contacted DHS and a DHS official requested he send a final report for follow-up on the case. Officer Aaron Schlegel assisted with the investigation.

September 28 - Possession with intent to distribute marijuana. Officer Aaron Schlegel was dispatched to Sonic, 1201 S. Main St., in reference to a subject attempting to sell marijuana to an employee. According to the report, a 16-year-old employee was offered marijuana in exchange for cash from a customer in the drive-thru. Schlegel reported he and Officer Charles Trout located and questioned the 40-year-old female subject at her home. According to the report, the woman stated she has a medical marijuana card and initially denied the charges against her, but later admitted to offering the minor marijuana. The subject retrieved a baggie of marijuana from her vehicle, which was seized and field tested positive for marijuana, according to the report. Schlegel stated in his report he advised the subject that a medical marijuana license is not a license to dispense marijuana and he would be filing a case with the district attorney’s office seeking a warrant for possession of marijuana with intent to distribute.

September 30 - Malicious injury/destruction of property. Officer Jason East responded to a report of damage at the Methodist Church, 1800 S. 13th St. East was informed an OEMA truck had backed into a light pole in the parking lot. East stated in his report the light pole and the cement pillar were knocked over and OEMA had contacted the city concerning the incident. East contacted a local electrician, who estimated a cost of $7,000 to $12,000 to repair the light pole.

October 1 - Forgery financial instrument. Officer David Catron took a report from a woman concerning fraud. The 51-year-old woman reportedly stated she sent $600 to a man she had been conversing with on the internet for approximately a year. She stated the man recently sent her a check for $3,950, but after trying to cash it, she discovered it was fraudulent, according to the report. Catron reported the woman was fearful the man might try to harm her because he knew where she lived and worked. Catron attempted to contact the man with the information provided, but was unsuccessful.

October 1 - Driving with license canceled/suspended/revoked. Officer Broden Carls reported he witnessed a vehicle exiting the Love’s parking lot, 203 S. Main St., and observed the vehicle had a defective tag light. Carls initiated a traffic stop of the vehicle at the intersection of South 6th Street and East Broadway. The driver, a 48-year-old male, stated he didn’t have a valid driver’s license when the officer asked for identification, but provided the officer with an Oklahoma identification card, according to the report. Carls entered the man’s identification with dispatch and was advised that his license was suspended. The driver was placed under arrest for driving with a suspended license and transported to the county jail.
