Kingfisher Police reports
The Kingfisher Police Department has investigated or responded to the following reports:
April 22 - Carry firearms after conviction/ during probation of felony, prohibited weapon switchblade/knuckles, receiving, possessing, concealing stolen property and warrant.
Officer Aaron Schlegel said in his report that he initiated a traffic stop of a vehicle with a defective brake light and possibly altered paper tags in the vicinity of West Overstreet Avenue and Cimarron Avenue.
Schlegel made contact with the 28-year-old male driver and 28-year-old female passenger.
According to the report, the driver did not have insurance and, after questioning, admitted the vehicle’s paper tag had been altered. The driver reportedly stated he was in possession of multiple tags which he had removed from disabled vehicles along the roadside, the report said.
Schlegel stated in his report that dispatch advised him the female passenger had an outstanding felony warrant in Grady County and she was placed under arrest for the warrant.
According to the report, Schlegel issued the driver a warning for the defective brake light and citations for operating a motor vehicle on which all taxes due to state have not been paid, altered tag and failure to comply with the compulsory insurance law.
Other officers arrived to assist and during inventory of the vehicle, a firearm was discovered in the female’s purse, as well as ammunition, a buck knife and three Oklahoma license plates in the vehicle, according to the report.
Schlegel said in his report that the male driver was on felony probation in Oklahoma County and brass knuckles were discovered on the male suspect while being searched.
The male suspect was taken into custody for possession of a firearm while on felony probation, possession of dangerous weapon for the brass knuckles and possession of stolen property for the license plates.
The female suspect was additionally charged with possession of a firearm while on felony probation.
Both suspects were transported to the Kingfisher County Criminal Justice Center.
Evidence seized included the altered paper tag, three Oklahoma license plates, five boxes of 12-gauge ammunition and a single round, brass knuckles, a buck knife and a .380 caliber handgun.
Officers Justin Conner, Dillon Chaloupek and Jason East assisted with the investigation.
April 24 - DUI-liquor or drugs, transporting open container and reckless driving.
Officer Aaron Schlegel said in his report that he was on patrol when he observed a vehicle performing reckless maneuvers proceeding eastbound on West Broadway Avenue near Eighth Street.
According to the report, Schlegel initiated a traffic stop of the vehicle at Love’s Country Store, 201 S. Main St. and made contact with the 42-year-old male driver.
The suspect appeared to show signs of intoxication and Schlegel detected the odor of alcohol, the report said.
According to the report, the suspect was unable to satisfactorily perform field sobriety tests and an open container of alcohol was observed in the vehicle.
The suspect was placed under arrest for driving under the influence, reckless driving and transporting an open container of alcohol.
