A busy agenda for the May regular meeting of the Kingfisher Board of Education brought with it the most personnel moves of the year in terms of volume.

Board members approved more than 150 hires as certified personnel, support staff and more were rehired for the 2019-20 school year. All moves were unanimous by members Carly Franks, Dana Golbek, Jim Perdue and Charles Walker. Mike Copeland was absent from the meeting.

Aside from those moves, several new teachers and staff were hired at the meeting.

Those include a new FFA adviser, Megan Thormodsgard as well as teachers and coaches Stuart Purintun, Jackie Sternberger and Jennifer Pralle (see related stories elsewhere in this edition).

Also approved were Rachel Spears as an assistant band director and Bailee Hollingshead for high school English. Heather Pringnitz was hired as a teacher’s assistant as well.

The hires came after the resignations of four employees were accepted: Ryan Burns, FFA and ag; Tiffanie Barnett, high school science and cheer coach; Esmerelda DeAlba, teacher’s assistant; and Julian White, assistant band director.

All of those actions were taken after a 67-minute executive session.

Prior to the executive session, in New Business, the board also approved hiring Cara Moore as a high school science teacher.
