Kingfisher Winter Nights Still a GO
Although the City of Kingfisher and Chamber of Commerce had to make the decision last week to pull the plug on the annual Christmas parade and fireworks display, there’s still at least one major event taking place this holiday season.
Volunteer crews worked throughout the week to put the finishing touches on displays for this year’s Kingfisher Winter Nights at Oklahoma Park.
KWN is set to open Saturday, Nov. 28, and will run through Dec. 27.
Crews from the City of Kingfisher Electric Department and from Cimarron Electric Cooperative put bucket trucks to work Thursday to aid in multiple displays.
KWN organizers said they hoped to have the park ready by the end of the week before colder weather moves in.
The workforce was aided later Thursday by volunteers from Chisholm Trail Technology Center, which annually provides help with the project.
The park will be open for visitors from 6-9 p.m. Sundays through Thursdays and 6-10 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays.
KWN is still in need of volunteers during operating hours to help hand out programs, collect donations and other duties.
