Kingfisher Middle School’s choirs put together a busy and rewarding spring.

Students attended the Seiling Music Festival on April 9.

The seventh and eighth grade concert choir performed two pieces: “My Soul Is Awakened” by Oklahoma composer Cristi Cary Miller and “Zum Gali Gali” arranged by Victor C. Johnson.

The choir earned “superior” ratings from all three judges and came home with a “superior” plaque.

The seventh and eighth grade choir and the fifth and sixth grade honor choir performed in the solo/ ensemble portion of the festival as well.

The seventh and eighth grade choir mixed ensemble, a cappella, men’s ensemble, women’s ensemble, the fifth and sixth grade honor choir ensemble for “Who Has Seen the Wind?” and the ensemble for “I Sing Because I’m Happy” also earned “superior” ratings.

Soloists Avery Stutts earned an “excellent” while Bianca Garcia, Cherith Stephenson, Elizabeth Pickle and Isabella Gomez earned “superiors.”

“We came home with 58 medals and one plaque in all,” noted Kingfisher Vocal Director Diann Magnus

On May 1, the seventh and eighth grade concert choir and the fifth and sixth grade honor choir took part in the Heartland Music Festival.

They performed the same pieces there as at Seiling.

The fifth and sixth graders earned a “superior” and the seventh and eighth graders earned the sweepstakes award by earning a “1” rating from both judges.

Each choir earned a trophy and a plaque.
