Both select ensembles earned “Superior” ratings.

Select ensemble No. 1 consisted of Arian Alvarez, Cherith Stephenson, Kyden McLellan, Cale Leck, Caleb Hendryx, Isabella Gomez, Mylene Jones, Emily Warren, Bianca Garcia and Sydnie Toepfer.

Ensemble No. 2 was Rylee Hamil, Paislee Osterholt, Mylene Jones, Emily Warren, Cale Leck, Caleb Hendryx, Andrew Hine, Zander Cox, Sydnie Toepfer, Cherith Stephenson, Bianca Garcia and Tobi Cox.

Soloists earning “Superior” were Garcia and Gomez.

Earning an “Excellent” for their solos were Toepfer and Stephenson.

Hamil, Emma McLean, Ellie Pickle and Jaya Rex comprised the women’s quartet that earned an “Excellent.”

On March 9, the concert choir competed in the OSSAA Choir Contest at Crossings Christian School in Oklahoma City.

The choir earned “Excellent” in both sight reading and performance.

Members performed “My Soul is Awakened” by Oklahoma composer Cristi Cary Miller and Israeli affollato song “Zum Gali Gali” by Victor C. Johnson.

“These are the most difficult pieces any of my seventh-eighth grade choirs have performed at contest and they did such a great job in a COVID year,” said Diann Magnus, KPS choral director.
