KPD investigates recent incidents, reports

The Kingfisher Police Department has investigated or responded to the following reports:

April 28 - Unlawful for registered sex offender to reside within 2,000 feet of prohibited areas, fail to register within three days of entering jurisdiction and provide false or misleading registration information.

Officer Aaron Schlegel said in his report that he was investigating a known sex offender living in the city of Kingfisher jurisdiction without proper registration.

According to the report, on April 16, the 29-year-old male suspect registered with Deputy Mike Shults of the Kingfisher County Sheriff’s office and identified his current place of residence as Payless Inn, 2300 Frontage Road.

Shults informed the suspect that he would also need to register with the Kingfisher Police Department since the residence was within their jurisdiction as well, the report said.

After making contact with the owner of Payless Inn, Schlegel determined the suspect had only stayed there on April 19, according to the report.

Schlegel said in his report that he then made contact with the owner of Cattlemen’s Inn, 224 W. Broadway, and determined the suspect had been staying there since April 22.

According to the report, Schlegel made contact with the suspect and spoke with him regarding his noncompliance with sex offender registration requirements.

Schlegel also informed the suspect that he could not reside in that location because it was within 2,000 feet of a park, according to the report.

The suspect agreed to leave the property, the report said.

April 30 - Driving with license canceled/suspended/revoked, warrant, possession of dangerous drugs prohibited, possession of dangerous drugs prohibited-marijuana and possession of paraphernalia.

Officer Aaron Schlegel reported that he attempted to make contact with a 43-year-old Kingfisher woman at her residence in the 800 block of South Third Street regarding an outstanding warrant.

Schlegel said in his report that he was unable to make contact with the suspect at her home, but observed the individual driving southbound on South Third Street and initiated a traffic stop of the vehicle.

According to the report, Schlegel placed the suspect under arrest for the warrant and asked her if she had anything illegal on her person and she stated she did not.

While searching the suspect, Schlegel said in his report that he discovered a pack of Zig Zags containing a white crystal rock in the suspect’s pocket.

In the officers’ search of the vehicle two marijuana roaches, a cigarette pipe, metal pipe, bottle of marijuana, two containers with white crystal residue, THC container, insurance check payable to another individual and black purse with syringes, baggies and a cotton ball were discovered and seized as evidence, according to the report.

The suspect was transported to the Kingfisher County Criminal Justice Center and charged with operating a motor vehicle while driver’s license is revoked, possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia, as well as the outstanding warrant.

Schlegel said in his report that he conducted field tests of some of the seized evidence and the white crystal rock tested positive for methamphetamine and substance from one of the containers tested positive for marijuana.

April 30 - Operate a motor vehicle with fictitious license plate, no driver’s license and escape after lawful arrest.

Officer Aaron Schlegel reported that he was on patrol along East Bowman Street when he observed a vehicle turn eastbound onto East Bowman from Rock Island Street.

Schlegel said in his report the 2000 Ford Expedition displayed a tag registered to a 1996 Ford and the third brake light was defective.

According to the report, Schlegel initiated a traffic stop of the vehicle, but it continued to a residence before coming to a stop.

After the vehicle came to a stop, the driver, a 38-year-old male known to the officer, exited the vehicle and began running south and refused to stop, the report said.

Schlegel said in his report, he and other officers searched the area, but were unable to locate the suspect.

Officers inventoried the vehicle, seized the improper tag and impounded the vehicle, the report said.

May 5 - Domestic abuse assault and battery. Officer Tyler Girten responded to a report of a domestic assault in the 200 block of South Fifth Street.

May 6 - Public intoxication, threatening or assaulting officers and resisting/ interfering with an officer.

Officer Tyler Girten responded to a report of a female causing a disturbance in the 100 block of South Seventh Street.

Upon arrival, Girten said in his report the 47-year-old female was rolling around in the grass and ran across S.H. 33 to Cattlemen’s Inn when he attempted to make contact with her.

According to the report, Girten and Officer Justin Trumbley followed the woman to Cattlemen’s Inn and questioned her regarding her behavior and possible intoxication.

The individual reportedly admitted to being under the influence of drugs. When officers attempted to put handcuffs on the suspect, she resisted arrest and kicked at one of the officers, the report said.

Girten said in his report that while the suspect was being transported to Mercy Hospital Kingfisher to receive medical clearance for incarceration, she head butted the divider in the patrol car and cut her head.

The suspect received stitches at the hospital for the cut she sustained and was medically cleared for incarceration, according to the report.

The tests performed on the suspect at the hospital were positive for methamphetamine and marijuana, the report said.

The suspect was transported to the Kingfisher County Criminal Justice Center and charged with public intoxication, assault on an officer and resisting arrest.
