KPS board fills 2 slots
A couple hires were made Monday night to highlight a very brief meeting of the Kingfisher Board of Education.
Jarrett Loper and Kadisha Medina were hired as special education paraprofessionals and Gerrett Spears will be the slowpitch softball assistant coach in the spring.
Those moves were made at the end of a 19-minute meeting that covered the agenda for the October regular meeting.
The board will meet at noon Thursday in a special meeting to open bids on the $3.35 million general obligation building bonds that will begin the first phase of construction that will eventually lead to a new seventh and eighth grade center.
At this meeting, members Carly Franks, Mike Copeland, Dana Golbek and Jim Perdue voted unanimously on the personnel moves. Charles Walker was absent from the meeting.
Spears is in his first year as the school’s high school girls basketball coach.
Deb Crosswhite served as the slowpitch assistant to Danny Green last spring, which was the first for the program.
The 2020 school board meeting dates were set.
The board will continue to meet the first Monday of each month with the exception of July and September.
The board annually meets twice in June, once on the first Monday and once on the final day of the month, which is also the end of the fiscal year.
That generally counts as the July meeting.
It will also meet Tuesday, Sept. 8, as opposed to the first of the month for that meeting.
Board members also approved fundraisers for the Gilmour music program and KHS cheerleading squad.
