KPS board rehires certified staff, personnel

By

Although voting in a new superintendent was the highest-profile hire made by the Kingfisher Board of Education during its regular May meeting, it was far from the only one.

Dozens of certified personnel and support staff were rehired and three new employees were brought into the fold during the May 3 meeting.

The new hires included Laci Redwine as the district’s mental health counselor.

Redwine has served the district in the role on a contracted basis, but Superintendent Jason Sternberger said the need has arisen for it to be a full-time role.

Sternberger said Redwine’s salary will be paid through CARES Act money received by the district.

Also hired were Morgan Yost as a third grade teacher and Micah Mueggenborg to fill a kindergarten teacher opening.

Those hires were on top of the board approving Dr. Daniel Craig as the new superintendent. (Ed. note: See Wednesday, May 5, edition for story on Craig.)

Those moves were made unanimously after a 40-minute executive session.
