History is silent as to whether legendary Kingfisher figure Apostle Paul Sykes wore a mask or advocated their use during the Spanish flu pandemic of his time, but his likeness in front of Kingfisher City Hall wears one regularly, along with the World War I soldier and little girl in his audience. City Manager Dave Slezickey said his staff keeps the statues masked as a friendly reminder of the city’s encouraging-versus-mandating approach to COVID-19 precautions.
