Two Kingfisher FFA’ers campaign for state officer posts
Two Kingfisher High School seniors are among those being considered as 2021-22 state officers for Oklahoma FFA.
Braden Burns is a candidate for secretary and Cora Beth Taylor for northwest area vice president, it was announced last weekend.
The two advanced through a nominating committee process over the weekend to be named among the candidates for office.
Those seeking office took part in a 100-point written test and also had to produce a hand-written letter that was in response to information they’d just been given.
The process also included five-minute one-on-one interviews with each of the 10 nominating committee members.
That was followedby a five-minute interview with the entire committee. That interview included two minutes during which the candidate delivered a prepared statement on “Why I desire to serve as a state FFA officer.”
The remaining three minutes saw candidates answer questions from committee members.
Candidates for each office will deliver a campaign speech at the state FFA convention, which is scheduled April 27-28 in Oklahoma City.
Each chapter in the state will have two delegates who vote for each state office.
Winners will be announced at the end of the convention.
