Livestock panel mishap claims 4 -year-old’s life
Whitley Ryan Rother, 4-year-old daughter of Jared and Jaime Rother of Okarche, died Saturday at Children’s Hospital in Oklahoma City, of injuries suffered Friday when a metal livestock panel fell on her.
The family was attending a cookout and Whitley was playing with other children when the accident occurred, family friends said.
Whitley fell and struck her head and never regained consciousness.
She was born June 5, 2014, and attended pre-k at Okarche Public Schools.
Her favorite activities included helping her dad with farming activities, including “checking the cows with Dad.” She had already announced interest in becoming a vet.
She was the middle child of three daughters born to the Rothers.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Okarche under direction of Huber-Benson Funeral Home. A wake service will be conducted at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, also at Holy Trinity Catholic Church.
The Kingfisher County Treasurer’s Office where Whitley’s grandmother, Robin Rother, is treasurer, will be closed Thursday morning, reopening at 1 p.m.
Okarche Public Schools will be closed Thursday so that students and teachers can attend services.
