Local man dies from apparently self-inflicted gun injury
A 46-year-old Kingfisher man was pronounced dead at his home from an apparently self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head Saturday afternoon.
The body of Bradley Allen Schoelen was found at his home at 12058 E. 770 Road about 4:10 p.m. by Nicholas Moore, 32, of Hennessey, according to Deputy Michael Shults, reporting officer.
Moore told Shults that Schoelen called him shortly after 3 p.m. and asked him to bring him some money and cigarettes, according to Shults’ report.
When Moore arrived at Schoelen’s house a little over an hour later, he found the screen door shut and the inside door open, and went inside after he received no answer from his knock, Moore told Shults.
Moore found Schoelen sitting in a chair inside, where he had appeared to have shot himself in the head, according to the report.
Moore ran outside and called 911, bringing Shults and Kingfisher EMS to the scene.
Schoelen was holding a 40-caliber semiautomatic handgun in his right hand, which was resting between his stomach and chest, according to Shults’ report.
A Kingfisher EMS crew pronounced Schoelen dead at 4:33 p.m. and a state medical examiner arrived at the scene at 7:37 p.m and concluded that Schoelen died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head at pointblank range, according to the report.
His body was transported to the state medical examiner’s office in Oklahoma City for further investigation.
