Local man injured in county accident
Three people, including one local man, were injured Friday evening in a one-vehicle accident in far eastern Kingfisher County.
Henry Tasso, Jr., 56, Kingfisher, was a passenger in a 2001 GMC Yukon driven by Teresa Lavonne Powell, 48, of Oklahoma City.
Those two suffered the most severe injuries when Powell lost control of the SUV while driving east on Dover-Crescent Road just over three miles east of Banner Road, according to a report from the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.
The report said the vehicle ran off the south edge of the road just before 7 p.m., swerved back on to the road, overcorrected to the right and entered a broad slide before running into the ditch.
Once it did, according to the report, that caused it to roll one-and-a-quarter times before striking a tree and coming to rest on the driver’s side.
Powell suffered trunk, head and arm injuries and was flown to OU Medical Center by a medical helicopter. The report said she was admitted in critical condition.
Tasso was taken to Mercy Hospital Kingfisher via ambulance while suffering head, arm and trunk injuries.
He was then flown to OU Medical Center, but listed in stable condition.
Another passenger, Eugene Patrick Robinson, 38, Enid, was treated and released from the Kingfisher hospital.
Trooper Trent Cagle of the Blaine County attachment of Troop J filed the report.
He was also assisted by two other troopers, Kingfisher County Sheriff’s Office, Dover Fire Department and Life EMS.
