Local man killed in ATV crash
A Kingfisher man was killed last Friday evening when the four-wheeler he was riding collided with a pickup truck on County Road N2845, a half mile south of County Road 830.
Christopher Michael McCollum, 34, of Kingfisher was transported to Mercy Hospital Kingfisher by Kingfisher EMS and then mediflighted to OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City, where he was pronounced dead from head and internal injuries, according to an Oklahoma Highway Patrol report.
McCollum pulled out of a private drive about 6:30 p.m. Friday on a Kawasaki four-wheeler when he collided with a 2008 Dodge Ram 1500 pickup truck driven by Kevin Jon Kretchmar, 40, of Kingfisher, which was traveling north on the county road.
Both vehicles left the roadway and came to rest in the west ditch.
Neither Kretchmar, nor the three passengers in his truck, Ashley Kaye Kretchmar, 35, and a 9-year-old girl and 3-year-old boy, were reported injured in the accident.
The children were not identified in the OHP report.
Kretchmar and his passengers were all wearing seatbelts. McCollum was not wearing a helmet.
Both the cause of the accident and the condition of the drivers remains under investigation, according to the report.
The accident was investigated by OHP Trooper Sammy Lee of the Kingfisher detachment, assisted by Kingfisher EMS and the Kingfisher County Sheriff’s Office.
