Local man still recovering from injuries sustained in March 3 traffic accident

A Kingfisher man injured in a three-vehicle crash south of Kingfisher March 3 remains hospitalized at OU Medical Center, where he faces more surgeries.

Keith Gray, 24, was transported by helicopter to the Oklahoma City hospital after Okarche and Kingfisher fire department personnel freed him from his 2009 Ford Mustang about 40 minutes after the crash shortly after 5 a.m.

Drivers and a passenger from the other vehicles were not reported injured, according to an Oklahoma Highway Patrol report.

Gray was on his way to work at Owens Concrete Staining in Oklahoma City when the accident happened.

Molly Klefstad, Gray’s girlfriend who lives with him and their 13-month-old son Wilder, reported that Gray suffered a left side skull fracture and orbital fracture, along with a lumbar fracture and an arterial tear in his neck.

Klefstad said a surgery is scheduled Wednesday to repair the facial fracture, but added that Gray continues to recover.

“He’s talking and becoming more aware every day,” she said. “He’s able to get up as long as he has his back brace on.

“We are hoping that as long as the surgery goes well on Wednesday that we will get to go home soon.”

An account has been established at F&M Bank in Kingfisher to help offset medical expenses, but Klefstad said the family is appreciative of prayers and words of support and encouragement they’ve received from the local community.

“He does still have a bit of a road ahead of him and he needs all the prayers he can get,” she said.
