Local students earning UCO degree
The University of Central Oklahoma will celebrate the achievements of approximately 1,937 graduates during the Spring 2019 Commencement Ceremonies May 10-11 in Central’s Hamilton Field House.
Oklahoma Congresswoman Kendra S. Horn will address graduates at the 6 p.m. ceremony Saturday, May 11. UCO President Don Betz also will offer comments at each of the university’s five ceremonies.
Commencement ceremonies are scheduled as follows:
• 3 p.m., Friday, May 10: College of Education and Professional Studies bachelor’s degree candidates; except psychology undergraduates;
• 7 p.m., Friday, May 10: College of Education and Professional Studies psychology undergraduates and Jackson College of Graduate Studies master’s degree candidates;
• 10 a.m., Saturday, May 11: College of Business bachelor’s degree candidates;
• 2 p.m., Saturday, May 11: College of Fine Arts and Design, and College of Mathematics and Science bachelor’s degree candidates; and,
• 6 p.m., Saturday, May 11: College of Liberal Arts bachelor’s degree candidates.
Local students receiving degrees at one of the listed ceremonies include:
Crescent - Monica Mann, elementary education; Jacob Price, industrial safety; Brittany Privett, organizational leadership
Hennessey - Tristan Hill, music theatre; Steven Patocka, industrial safety; Jill Wilburn, general studies
Kingfisher - Jennifer Burzycki, general studies; Sydney Kippenberger, strategic communication; Alexandria Mason, nursing; Annie McKay, general studies; Madison York, general studies
Okarche - Jaryn Meyer, master’s in educational leadership, with honors; Madi Grellner, nursing
Graduates and guests attending the ceremonies are asked to arrive early as the field house traditionally fills to capacity.
Limited parking to the southwest of the field house will be reserved for those with disabilities. All campus parking spaces, except those in the reserved lot to the southwest of the field house, will be open during the commencement events for those attending ceremonies.
Guests attending ceremonies without tickets will only be admitted if space is available following the national anthem. Guests without tickets can also view a live video stream of the ceremonies in the Troy Smith Lecture Hall in the Business building, just south of Hamilton Field House.
The ceremonies may also be viewed online at uco.edu/graduation, with live streams beginning approximately 15 minutes before each ceremony.
Additionally, Central will live stream each commencement ceremony on UCO’s Facebook page.
The Facebook Live stream will capture the traditional graduate walk from Old North to Hamilton Field House, weather permitting.
