Loosen, Burns honored as March Junior Lions
Kingfisher High School seniors Madeline Loosen and Peyton Burns have been announced as the Junior Lions for March 2019.
Loosen is the daughter of Marette and Jeff Forman and Clay Loosen.
She is active in National Honor Society, student council, FCA, cross country, track, cheer and the Kingfisher First Baptist youth group.
Loosen is currently the senior class president, has served as a Senate page, was an Oklahoma Girls State delegate and is a member of the Mercy Student Careers Council.
Her honors also include the 4-Point Award, Oklahoma Honor Society, superintendent’s honor roll, KHS Student of the Month and she is a two-time recipient of the KHS Meritorious Achievement Medal.
Loosen was a member of the 2018 KHS girls state championship cross country team, has earned All-State twice in cross country and is a five-time medalist at the state track meet, including winning the 4A state championship in the 800 as a sophomore.
Burns is the son of Ryan and Lori Burns.
He is active in FFA and golf.
Burns has been named the Student of the Month, earned the 4-Point Award, listed on the principal’s honor roll and is a member of the National Honor Society.
He has won numerous individual and team awards in multiple local, state, regional and national FFA competitions ranging from livestock judging to parliamentary procedure and ag issues to meat evaluation and more.
Burns was selected to be a part of a student-led gubernatorial debate last year, is on the American Farmers and Ranchers Youth Advisory Council, served as a page in the House of Representatives and was a winner of the Rotary Youth Leadership Award among other honors.
Burns is currently the Kingfisher FFA parliamentarian.
On the golf course, Burns has qualified for multiple state tournaments and was a top-10 medalist during his junior season.
