LWML groups travel to national convention
Lutheran Women in Mission (LWML) groups from Emmanuel Lutheran of Kingfisher, St. John Lutheran of Okarche and Our Savior Lutheran of Guthrie recently traveled to Mobile, Ala., for the national convention.
Along with 3,000 others they sang, praised God, met with old and new friends and “generally had a great time,” said Heather McCarty, one of those who made the trip.
Events included Bible study led by Donna Pyle, a Mission walk to raise money for local charities, updates from missionaries, speakers “and, of course, great food and fun,” McCarty said.
Entertainment included sand artist Joe Castillo (also featured on America’s Got Talent) and Voices of Mobile (singing group from the University of Mobile).
LWML is a women’s auxiliary group of the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod.
Among other things, they go on mission trips, raise money to support missions, support church workers and assist women of the church in affirming their relationship with the Triune God so that they are enabled to use their gifts in ministry to the people of the world.
