MEDICAL MARIJUANA

MEDICAL MARIJUANA

MEDICAL MARIJUANA dispensary owner Kaily Ball, left, of August Pharms of Kingfi sher, was the guest speaker of the Kingfisher Rotary club last week. Ball presented club members and guests with a powerpoint presentation concerning the state of the medicinal marijuana industry in Oklahoma. She said many dispensaries and growers who entered the fi eld are now dropping out due to unreasonable expectations and the lack of proper business plans. She said the industry is heavily regulated by the state in an effort to keep organized crime and fraudulent organizations from gaining a foothold. She noted that the large majority of her customers were over the age of 65, with prescriptions written for cancer pain management and relief. She said she became active in the industry due to her own medical issues regarding pain treatment for a terminal illness. Ball invited all interested persons to come by August Pharms located on Highway 33 approximately one mile east of Kingfisher. She was introduced to the club by Rotarian Jenny Nusz, right, who arranged for the presentation.
