Miller hosts January meet of Hennessey Farmerettes

By

The Hennessey Farmerettes OHCE met Jan. 9 in the home of Dot Miller for its first meeting of the new year.

Billie Melendy, president, called the meeting to order and led the flag salute.

Susan Engle was introduced and welcomed as a new member.

The devotion, “E-mail from God” was given by Mary Curry.

Nine members answered roll call telling what words best describe their attitude and the way they handle life.

Updates on the health of member Maxine Helgeson, former member Pat Bugg and friend Dorothy Caulk were provided.

News items from the County Extension newsletter were read and discussed.

The club will co-host the OHCE District meeting March 26 in Fairview and members will soon be gathering and making items for door prizes and baskets.

Members received new yearbooks at the meeting and selected months they wanted to be the lesson leader and/or hostess. All months with lessons and hostesses were selected.

The minutes of the November meeting were read and approved and the treasurer’s report was given.

Members turned in the Best Choice labels they had collected, which is one of the club’s special projects.

Several members told about the Farmerette Christmas outing that they attended.

Miller reported she already purchased the scrapbook and supplies for the club’s 2020 scrapbook.

After the meeting adjourned, Miller provided the lesson on “Teaching How to Overcome Obstacles.”

The quarter drill was won by Margie McConnell.

A homemade “Methodist dessert” and a cream cheese specialty with a chutney pear topping with crackers were served to members.
