Monday night storm brings rain, wind damage to area
Thunderstorms covered much of Kingfisher County Monday night leaving rainfall ranging around one-half inch or a little more.
Kingfisher received .6 inch officially.
Local Weather Observer Steve Loftis recorded that amount at the National Weather Service Station in Kingfisher.
Loftis also reported some wind damage as 59-mile-perhour winds accompanied the front that swept through the area.
Loftis said a tree blew over in the 400 block of South Seventh Street in Kingfisher, blocking traffic.
Wind caused additional tree damage in Kingfisher.
On the brighter side, the rain gave a boost to pastures, which are unusually green for this late in the summer, lawns, gardens and summer crops as well as cooler temperatures after a spate of days when highs ranged near 100 degrees.
Other rainfall amounts reported in Kingfisher County included .6 inch at Cashion Grain and Feed Elevator, .7 inch at the Rick and Robin Johnston residence, northwest of Dover, .91 inch at the Harold Ebers residence near Hennessey, one-half inch at the Jon Cochran residence in Loyal, .6 inch at the CHS Elevator at Omega,.6 inch at CHS Elevator at Okarche, a little under a half inch at the Okarche Grain and Feed Elevator, a half inch at the Mike and Donna Reid residence northwest of Okarche along Altona Road, a half-inch at the Twila Adams residence east of Kingfisher and about .7 inch at an unofficial gauge in the Wildwood Addition, east of Kingfisher.
Mesonet rain reports included: .54 inch at the Mueggenborg farm west of Kingfisher, .46 inch at El Reno, .32 inch at Watonga, .58 inch at Marshall, .44 inch at Guthrie, 1.01 inches at Breckenridge, 1.01 inches at Cherokee, 1.02 inches at Fairview, 1.15 inches at Spencer, .25 inch at Blackwell, and .71 inch at Alva.
