More days, hours added to walking trail HPS dome
The walking trail on the second story of Hennessey Event Center (The Dome) will be available to patrons Monday-Friday and include morning, noon and evening hours, said Superintendent Dr. Mike Woods.
New hours that went into effect Thursday are:
Mondays: 6-8 a.m., 11:27 a.m.-12:20 p.m., and 6-9:30 p.m.
Tuesdays: 11:27 a.m.-12:20 p.m., and 6-9:30 p.m.
Wednesdays: 6-8:00 a.m., 11:27 a.m.-12:20 p.m., and 6-9:30 p.m.
Thursdays: 11:27 a.m.-12:20 p.m., and 6-9:30 p.m.
Fridays: 6-8 a.m. and 6-9:30 p.m.
There is no fee to use the heated and air-conditioned indoor walking facility which was part of the plan when it was approved by voters to erect the facility, said Woods.
New walkers may sign up at the administration office on the southeast side of the center, or at The Dome on their first visit.
All walkers are given a lanyard with their name and emergency contact information.
Walkers should sign in with the student attendant when they enter and when they’re ready to leave the facility.
The walking trail was opened to the public Dec. 2 and then included only evening hours three days a week.
Rules for use of the facility will continue: No one is allowed on gym floor, or allowed to bring food, but they may bring drinks.
No unattended children will be allowed, but “they could bring their kids if they stay with the parent, and again, they are not allowed on gym floor,” said the superintendent.
