More rain reported in area, state

More heavy rains arrived in Kingfisher County Wednesday night and Thursday.

Local Weather Observer Steve Loftis reported a total of 1.85 inches at the National Weather Service Station in Kingfisher with .10 inch recorded at 7 a.m. Thursday from the preceding 24-hours and 1.75 inches recorded at 7 a.m. Friday from the rain falling during much of Thursday.

Area creeks and rivers rose only slightly, but flash flooding during the heaviest downpours obstructed some area roadways.

Some downpours occurred across the county with Rick and Robin Johnston receiving 4.1 inches of additional moisture at their residence northwest of Dover and Cashion Grain and Feed elevator reporting three inches as of 3 p.m. Thursday.

Other rainfall amounts reported across the county included:

Dover – Jeremy Ingle, northeast of Dover, reported three inches of rain during the day Thursday and an estimated two inches overnight, filling his basement with water again.

Hennessey – 1.99 inches at the Harold Ebers residence, including .56 inch at 7 a.m. Thursday 1.53 inches at 7 a.m. Friday.

Loyal – 1.5 inches at the Jon Cochran Sr. residence.

Okarche – .9 inch at the CHS Elevator Friday morning, 1.5 inches at the Okarche Grain and Feed elevator eight miles west of Okarche and 1.7 inches at the Mike and Donna Reid residence five miles northwest of Okarche.

Jack Harrel, former Kingfisher schools superintendent now living in Stillwater, reported on Facebook that the “three-day drought” there was broken by 4.1 inches of rain Wednesday and Thursday.

Mesonet rain reports from around the area included: Kingfisher 1.53 inches, Watonga 1.76 inches, Fairview 3.23 inches, Lahoma 2.7 inches, Marshall 3.52 inches, Guthrie 1.19 inches, El Reno 1.06 inches, Yukon 2.61 inches, Blackwell 2.61 inches, Weatherford 1.10 inches and Mangum 1.14 inches.

Mesonet reported 4.75 inches for already flood-drenched Tulsa.

Wet conditions may continue, with a chance of more rain forecasted next week.
