Needing to stay fed? Local options are plentiful now
County residents trying to stay fed during the current coronavirus state of emergency have a number of options, thanks to the generosity and creativity of area organizations, businesses and individuals.
Hennessey and Dover schools are both offering grab-and-go lunches for students in their district beginning Monday.
Hennessey has set up an online ordering system (see the Times & Free Press Facebook Page for the link) and asks that meals be ordered by 5 p.m. the day before so that the school knows how many to prepare.
The ordering system also allows for pickup at either the school or about 16 other drop-off sites around town.
Dover schools ask that parents call the school office to order lunches for their children.
A group of local churches are providing grab-and-go lunches for Kingfisher students in a program informally called “Lunches on 13th Street.” Lunches can be picked up at one of three 13th Street Churches, First Baptist Church, Lifeway and First United Methodist Church on a rotating schedule.
Call any of the churches for more information or visit the Times & Free Press Facebook page.
Frontline Ministries is providing to-go meals for anyone each Wednesday and Friday night at 6 p.m.
Local restaurant owners also have gotten creative with curbside and delivery services as well as “do-it-yourself” meal kits.
