No surprise news report: More rain fell last weekend

By

More rain Sunday continued to dampen prospects for grain harvest and road repairs across Kingfisher County.

Kingfisher Weather Observer Steve Loftis reported 1.25 inches of rain here Sunday morning at the National Weather Service station in Kingfisher and the Mesonet station on the Mueggenborg Farm west of Kingfisher recorded 1.27 inches.

Rainfall reports of up to 1.5 inches were common across the county.

District 1 County Commissioner Jeff Moss wryly observed Monday that the county might need a helicopter to move fill material to repair sites because road conditions continue to deteriorate.

He said Dover-Crescent Road continued to be blocked and new washouts occurred due to weekend rainfall in the area.

Pastures and grain fields along the Cimarron River continued to be covered by standing water and roadside ditches had the appearance of live creeks due to running water.

Portions of the Dover-Crescent Road were covered by water over the weekend.
