October sales tax checks down for all area towns, cities
October sales tax checks were down for area cities and towns and Kingfisher County, according to the Oklahoma Tax Commission.
The drop in local sales tax revenue mirrored the state experience.
The October distribution of sales tax collections by the OTC primarily represents local tax receipts from August business. Companies that remit more than $2,500 monthly in sales tax receipts are required to file and pay electronically.
The monies they reported this period represent sales from Aug. 16 to 31 and estimated sales from Sept. 1 to Sept. 15.
The disbursement of $160,513,549 in sales tax collections returned to the cities and towns reflected a decrease of $1,480,794 from the $161,994,343 distributed to the cities and towns in October last year.
The use tax disbursement to cities and towns was $24,728,643.
In county returns, the counties shared in a $26,014,725 sales tax disbursement and a $4,546,299 use tax disbursement.
Use tax checks locally for October 2020 compared to last year follow with amounts listed in that order:
Cashion – $6,900.39 and $11,465.80.
Crescent – $7,346.86 and $4,943.06.
Dover – $2,668.07 and $3,650.27.
Hennessey – $12,417.52 and $10,456.60.
Kingfisher – $89,736.62 and $54,459.19.
Okarche – $11,760.31 and $20,397.32.
Kingfisher County – $85,924.95 and $166,133.14.
Loyal does not collect a use tax.
Use taxes are collected at the same rate as an entity’s sales tax for products purchased out of state for delivery within the entity.
