ODOT awards bids on area projects

Oklahoma Department of Transportation on Monday awarded bids for projects that will affect Kingfisher County.

Other bids awarded for projects also include Blaine County.

They were awarded during the ODOT’s commission meeting.

One bid was awarded for bridge repainting on U.S. 81 over the Cimarron River, 6.9 miles north of the State Highway 33 junction near Dover.

The engineer’s estimate for the project was $707,492.80.

The low bid of $519,180.20 was awarded to Monoko LLC of Tarpon Springs, Fla. There were 11 bids total

There were 11 bids total for the project. Other bids ranged from $590,000 from Spartan Construction LLC to $1,249,244 from Extreme Sandblasting and Painting Inc.

The project is estimated to take 60 calendar days once it is scheduled to start.

Another project involves grading, draining and surface work on County Road NS-250 from 2.9 miles south of the U.S. Highway 270 junction, extending .021 miles north to near Watonga.

The engineer’s estimate on the project was $161,404.50.

The low bid of $157,274.38 was awarded to Wyatt Contracting Inc. of Weatherford.

Other bids, from the seven total submitted, ranged in price from $174,463.05 from Redlands Contracting LLC to $218,376.35 from Downey Contracting LLC.

The project is expected to take 30 days for completion once work starts.

Yet another project will resurface asphalt on S.H. 33 from three miles east of the State Highway 54 junction, extending 7.5 miles northeast to near Thomas.

The engineer’s estimate for the project was $1,910,376.

The only bid on the project was for $1,921,971 from Haskell Lemon Construction Co. of Oklahoma City.

“Keeping roads and bridges in good shape equals safer travel for our families and improved commerce for our rural areas,” said House Majority Leader Mike Sanders, R-Kingfisher. “This is a winning combination. I’m glad to see these projects awarded for Kingfisher and Blaine counties, and I will continue to work with the Transportation Commission in the future on projects that will benefit our area.”

Bids on these projects were opened May 14.
