OHS one-act play 3rd at state
Okarche High School’s play placed third recently in the OSSAA’s one-act play contest for the 2020-21 school year.
Cherokee was named state champion with Alva being selected state runner-up.
Also, OHS junior Emily Neuenschwander was named to the All-State play cast, an honor that goes to the top-10 performances among the eight plays that qualified for state competition.
Okarche’s play, “Kindertransport,” was a drama about a young Jewish girl sent out of Nazi Germany by her parents and how this impacted her as an adult.
In addition to Neuenschwander the cast featured McKenzie Stewart, Kenzie Beard, Marley Hill, Kylie Bailey, Riley Black, Brody Sadler, Emma Stover, Kera Avilez, Rylie Bomhoff, Chloe Goble, Reagan Marler, Afton Shirey and Suzann Smith.
The crew included Madison Schaefer, stage manager and videographer; Kaylea Steelman and Michael Dunkin, lighting technicians; and Derek Mueggenborg, sound technician.
Lyndal Westmoreland serves as director of the program, which has won five one-act play state championships in its history.
