The Okarche High School speech department’s production of “Kindertransport” by Diane Samuels has advanced to the state finals in the OSSAA one-act play competition.

OHS’s play placed second behind Alva in the Class 4A Division 1 regional contest held recently.

The regional contest and the state competition are virtual contests this year.

The judging panel views a video of each school’s play rather than a live performance.

In addition to the second-place finish, Okarche had two actresses make the all-star play cast, an honor that goes to the top 10 performances of the plays as determined by the judging panel.

Mackenzie Stewart and Emily Neuenschwander, both juniors, were selected by the three judges for the honor.

Winners of the state contest and the all-state play cast were announced on Tuesday, May 18 (after press time).
