Beth Schieber, retired Kingfisher teacher and longtime Okarche Board of Education member and CASA volunteer, was elected to serve as the president of 70-member chapter of Beta Beta for the 2020-2022 biennium.

Beta Beta is an Oklahoma organization chapter of the DKG Society International, which is the Women Educators Honor Organization.

The Beta Beta Chapter is one of 30 chapters of the Oklahoma State Organization. The chapter’s purpose is to provide professional and personal growth of members and excellence in education.

Through programs, communications and research, Beta Beta’s goal is to unite women educators in genuine spiritual fellowship; honor women who have given distinctive service in any field of education; advance the professional interest and position of women in education; initiate, endorse, and support desirable legislation or other suitable endeavors in the interests of education and of women educators; endow scholarships to aid outstanding women educators in pursuing educational pursuits; encourage their participation in appropriate programs of action; and inform the members of current economic, social, political and educational issues so that they may participate effectively in a world society.

In addition, the chapter participates in many local, state and international service projects.

Locally, Beta Beta projects include: Backpacks for Kids/personal hygiene items, Santa’s Toy Shoppe, Partner’s Club Prom, Jacob’s Cupboard, “Shower” the Students – Provide personal hygiene items and personal clothing items for Canadian County students and back-to-school breakfast gift cards for teachers.

Beta Beta members also support SEES: Supporting Career Educators (state project) and Schools for Africa (international project).

The chapter also supports the Oklahoma Unifying Service Project - Oklahoma Interviewing Services (OIS).

OIS is a 501(c)3 non-profit agency that provides free, statewide, culturally sensitive, forensic interviews in English and Spanish for child crime victims to assist law enforcement and child welfare agencies.

Schieber currently serves as the state editor for the Oklahoma State Organization and she also serves on the 10-member board of directors of the DKG International Educators Foundation for the term 2018-2024.

The DKG Society International is a professional international honor society of approximately 69,000 key women educators in all 50 United States and 17 foreign countries.

The DKG Educators Foundation was established in 1964. The Foundation spends more than $100,000 each year to support creative projects, seminars, and professional development.

Since its inception, the Educational Foundation has awarded grants totaling nearly $4 million.
