Okarche man dies in crash

By

An Okarche man was killed Tuesday morning after his car hydroplaned into a bridge railing and then was struck by a pickup truck on Interstate 40 in Yukon.

Kenneth E. Stoner, 38, was pinned inside his vehicle for nearly two hours before being extricated by the Yukon Fire Department. Emergency medical responders pronounced him dead at the scene with head and internal injuries, according to an Oklahoma Highway Patrol report.

Stoner was traveling east on I-40 in a 2012 Nissan Altima about 9 a.m. Tuesday when the car began hydroplaning on the wet roadway and collided with a bridge railing at Garth Brooks Boulevard, coming to rest in the center lane, according to the report.

Stoner’s car was struck again by a 2015 Ford F250 pickup truck driven by Christian Escobar Carillo, 26, of Reno, Texas.

Carillo’s eastbound truck was coming over a hill and collided from the rear with Stoner’s car, pushing it 325 feet and coming to rest on top of the vehicle.

Carillo and three passengers in his truck, all of whom were reported wearing seatbelts, were not reported injured.

Stoner was not wearing a seatbelt, according to the report.

The accident was investigated by the Canadian County OHP detachment, assisted by the OHP traffic homicide unit, the Canadian County Sheriff’s Office, Yukon police and fire departments, Samaritan EMS and the Oklahoma Department of Transportation.
