Okarche wins 3A sweepstakes at Okeene

The Okarche speech team brought home the sweepstakes trophy in Class 3A from the Okeene High School Invitational.  

Held Jan. 25-26, the tournament hosted contestants from eight 3A schools.

Senior Katie Bomhoff was the tournament champion in dramatic interp and teamed with brother and fellow senior Rob Bomhoff to win humorous duet.  

Rob was also runner-up in monologue and led an OHS sweep of the medals in humorous interp with freshman Abby McIlvain placing second and senior Sara Bomhoff taking third.  

Sara brought home the first-place medal in domestic extemp and was a finalist in poetry.

Senior Harley Dunkin was third in monologue and a finalist in poetry. Junior Mikaila Kraus was third in poetry.  

Grace Stephens, a junior, was third in original oratory, and McKenzie Stewart, an OHS freshman was second.

Kaylea Steelman, another freshman, brought home the third-place medal in standard oratory.

The team will next compete at the SWOSU tournament  on Feb. 8-10.
