January sales tax was down for all Kingfisher County towns except Kingfisher and Loyal.

Kingfisher’s increase was minimal, 1.9 % . Loyal’s tax rose by 18.1%.

The slowdown in oilfield activity continues to negatively impact municipal and county sales and use tax revenue.

The January distribution of sales tax collections by the Oklahoma Tax Commission primarily represents local tax receipts from November business. Companies that remit more than $2,500 monthly in sales tax receipts are required to file and pay electronically. The monies they reported this period represent sales from November 16-30 and estimated sales from Dec. 1 to Dec. 15.

The disbursement of $164,181,289 in sales tax collections returned to the cities and towns reflected an increase of $4,189,918 from the $159,991,371 distributed to the cities and towns in January last year. The use tax disbursement to cities and towns was $29,517,666.

In county returns, the counties shared in a $25,947,908 sales tax disbursement and a $5,243,840 use tax disbursement.
