Oklahoma State Department of Health reported approximately 9,000 new cases of COVID-19 and 103 additional deaths from Wednesday-Friday, including another death in Kingfisher County.
Friday’s OSDH situation update included an adjustment in new case counts previously reported for Wednesday and Thursday after one lab released a three-day backlog of positive results.
New case counts were adjusted to roughly 3,000 for each of the three days - more than double what had been previously reported.

Thursday and Friday’s updates did not identify when the additional 49 deaths occurred or whether any happened during the prior 24 hours.
The additional Okarche death brings the total number of official Kingfisher County COVID-linked fatalities to seven.
(The state health department does not identify decedents by name and the Times&FreePress only does so when that information is provided by family members or facility directors, in the case of nursing home deaths.)

Some Public Buildings Closed
Two public buildings which dosed temporarily due to COVID-19 concerns include the Kingfisher County Sheriff’s Office and the Hennessey Public Library.
The Hennessey library is closed temporarily after one employee was diagnosed with COVID-19 and another was required to quarantine at home.
Sheriff Dennis Banther said the Kingfisher County Jail has locked down its lobby due to recent increases in county cases.
“We will remain locked down until we see a sustained decrease in cases within the county,” he said. “We apologize for any inconvenience this might cause, however we feel we need to take the health of employees and inmates into account.”
The jail will continue to work with families of inmates to allow Friday visitation and will also allow inmates to have access to local clergy.
