OSDH tests 36 at fairgrounds
Results had not yet been returned Friday from 36 COVID-19 tests administered Wednesday at a drive through site set up by the county and state health departments at the Kingfisher County Fairgrounds.
The tests were sent to the Oklahoma State University lab, one of the college labs that has recently come on line to help speed up the state testing process, Maggie Jackson, Oklahoma State Department of Health director of community engagement and planning for district 2 said.
Drive through testing is being phased out as more tests become available at local health departments by appointment to those who have either been exposed to a known confirmed positive COVID-19 patient or those with symptoms of fever, cough or shortness of breath, Jackson said.
Jackson expressed appreciation to Kingfisher City-County Emergency Management Director Steve Loftis, Kingfisher Police Department and the County Sheriff’s Office for helping manage traffic at the county testing site.
“The Kingfisher County Fairgrounds was a great facility for the event and the operation went so smoothly there,” she said.
