Pansy Wheeler hosts Surprise HEC meeting

By

The Surprise Home Extension Group met Sept. 12 in the home of Pansy Wheeler.

The Kingfisher County Free Fair results were announced that the group won first place among all local Home Extension Clubs with its total exhibits.

Between the group’s 60 exhibits, it had five champion, three reserve champion, a grand champion and two reserve grand champion ribbons.

The lesson was on “Free or Discounted Fun to Do Places in Oklahoma for Seniors.”

Of the 50 suggested places, members had been to many of them.  Members reported the good and bad points of each.

President Irene George presided and called the meeting to order. Pansy Wheeler, vice president, read the Homemaker’s Creed and gave the devotional of “Full Access.”

Secretary Linda Caldwell read the minutes and Loretta Kretchmar, treasurer, gave the financial report.

The county fair superintendents will be having an evaluation meeting and club members sent several suggestions to be discussed.

Linda Wilcox sent several suggestions about a tour of Guthrie and activities the club might do for its December meeting.

The group will make a final decision about it next month.

The next meeting will be in the home of Caldwell, who will give the lesson on “Turning Old Textiles into Something New.”

Wheeler served refreshments to the four present members.
