Lots of fun in store at county Independence Day events
Kingfisher and Hennessey both are offering plenty of fun events Monday, July 4, to celebrate Independence Day.
KINGFISHER’S RED, WHITE & BOOMFEST
10 a.m. Downtown Parade –
Local Vietnam veterans, American Legion members and longtime civic volunteers Larry Talbott, Kenneth Tollison and Bill Tucker will serve as parade marshals for this Main Street Freedom celebration.
Kingfisher Park Activities
Noon-4 p.m. Free Swim, Vernie Snow Aquatic Center.
2-10 p.m. Let’s Eat, Food and drink vendors galore throughout the park.
4 p.m. Fun & Games – Balloon toss, turtle race, sack race and coin dig for prizes at Homier Field.
5-7 p.m. – Free train rides, courtesey Kingfisher Parks Department staff.
7 p.m. – Free watermelon feed at home plate, Homier Field.
7:30-9:30 p.m. – Live concert with the Katie Ballew Band, Homier Field.
Dusk – Fireworks display sponsored by the city of Kingfisher visible in and around Homier Field.
HENNESSEY’S JULY 4 th
12-5 p.m. Free Swim, Hennessey Aquatic Center; concessions also available.
4 p.m. Cornhole Tournamen 6 p.m. Cardboard & Duc Tape Boat Races, Hennessey Pool. It’s a first-ever sink-or-swim event involving four-person teams.
Dusk – Fireworks display sponsored by the town of Hennessey, staged at the south end of the practice field at Mitchell Road and Oklahoma Avenue and visible in and around the football stadium.
