KHS yard sign brigade honors seniors
After a senior year that ended with a trail of disappointments – with long-anticipated milestones modified beyond recognition or canceled altogether – Kingfisher High School’s Class of 2020 got some surprise and welcome extra recognition this week.
The school purchased personalized yard signs featuring a senior photo and congratulations for each of the 127 class members and volunteer school staff members delivered them to students’ homes Monday.
“The idea was a group effort,” KHS Counselor Paula Leffingwell said. “Once it was mentioned, I checked pricing with Levi McGee from Mutiny Marketing in Hennessey and he gave us a great quote and a seven-day turnaround for all 127 seniors, so we went from there.”
Leffingwell’s son Dawson (Class of 2016) organized addresses into five Google map routes to make delivery more efficient and a crew of 14 KPS administrators, faculty and staff members headed out to place the signs.
And soon social media was awash with photos and expressions of gratitude from students and parents.
“Seeing the seniors excited was the best part,” Leffingwell said.
Those who helped Leffingwell with deliveries included: KHS Principal Todd Overstreet, Assistant Principal/ Athletic Director Jay Wood, Heritage School Principal Shane Hood, Terri Layn, Natalie Branson, Diann Magnus, T.J. Harris, Summer Scott, Stacy Themer, Carina Ponce, Stephanie Bieren and Whitney Johnson.
“We couldn’t be more proud of these students,” Leffingwell said. “This was fun.”
