Resident offers solution to county dilemma
District 2 County Commissioner Ray Alan Shimanek reported Monday that a county resident has offered to provide a repeater tower to support county radios at no cost to the county.
Acceptance of the offer was not on the meeting agenda so no official action was taken.
There was concern reported at an earlier commission meeting regarding availability of the previously- used tower after the sale of Pioneer Telephone Cooperative’s cell phone business to Verizon earlier this year.
Pioneer provided free use of its tower to the county prior to the sale of its cellular business.
Commissioners approved an interlocal agreement with Houston-Galveston Area Council, allowing it to purchase radio equipment through the Texas organization through the end of the current fiscal year.
Commissioners also approved a $116.50 reimbursement claim to the Oklahoma Office of Juvenile Affairs for transportation of a juvenile detainee to an approved facility and awarded a contract to Dean Horn and Son of Sayre for the low bid of $38,000 for labor for the construction of a county bridge on E 870 Road one-half mile west of the intersection with N 2720 Road.
Commission Chairman Heath Dobrovolny reported that dirt work has begun on the new portion of the courthouse parking lot.
District 1 Commissioner Jeff Moss joined in approving all action items on the agenda.
Also present were County Clerk Jeannie Boevers as official minute clerk and County Engineer Nik Smith.
