Reynolds named to commission
Richard Ray Reynolds was named to round out the Kingfisher City Commission at a special meeting Wednesday night.
Reynolds will be sworn in and seated at Monday’s regular August meeting to fill the post vacated by Roxie Alexander when she was elected mayor.
Reynolds will serve the remainder of Alexander’s term, which expires in April, and will be eligible to file for election and serve up to two additional four-year terms.
Commissioners voted 3-1 to appoint Reynolds, after a motion by Commissioner Kyle Mecklenburg to appoint Austin Evans, on the recommendation of Alexander, failed for lack of a second.
Commissioner Wendell Prim then moved to appoint Reynolds, who lost to Mecklenburg in the June election for the other vacant commission seat.
Reynolds was appointed by a majority of commissioners after Commissioner Bill Tucker seconded the motion.
Mecklenburg cast the sole “no” vote. Other candidates who submited letters of interest for the appointment included Adam Masters and Kaci Farrar.
