Devon Energy and the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma recently distributed boxed meals to 800 families in western Oklahoma ahead of the Thanksgiving holiday.

“Devon is committed to serving our community,” said Christina Rehkop, the company’s director of community relations. “We know far too many people across the state suffer from food insecurity, and it can be even more difficult around the holidays - especially during a pandemic. Feeding our neighbors is one way we can bring comfort and joy in these tough times.”

Each year, Devon’s Holiday Care & Share program partners with local agencies to distribute boxes packed with non-perishable items like canned vegetables, boxed macaroni and cheese and jars of peanut butter, as well as a boneless ham, bread and fresh fruits and vegetables.

This year the company provided meals for people in El Reno, Geary, Kingfisher, Hinton and Weatherford.

The Regional Food Bank is the largest hunger-relief organization in Oklahoma.

It serves 53 central and western Oklahoma counties, providing food assistance to chronically hungry children, seniors living on limited incomes and hard-working families struggling to make ends meet.

“The Regional Food Bank works every day to end hunger in Oklahoma, and we can’t do it on our own,” said Stacy Dykstra, CEO of the Regional Food Bank. “Partnerships with companies like Devon make a huge difference for our organization and, more importantly, the families we serve.”
