Rotary gets update on county health department

By

Jan Fox, regional administrative director of the Oklahoma Department of Health, right, was the featured speaker of the Kingfisher Rotary Club recently. Fox, who oversees the activities of Kingfisher, Canadian, Logan and Lincoln county health department offices, said Kingfisher County’s office is currently understaffed due to budget cuts, furloughs and employees leaving to accept other positions. However, she said many problems had been resolved and she hoped to have a full staff in place soon. Fox was raised in Greenfield in Blaine County and she has a 30-year career in the health field. She is a registered nurse and a graduate of Southwestern Oklahoma State University. She presented some statistics regarding wellness across the state and noted that Kingfisher County is statistically the healthiest county in the state. However, she said Kingfisher County also has a higher than normal suicide and alcohol usage rate. Fox was introduced by Kingfisher County Associate District Judge Lance Schneiter, also a Rotarian.
