Roundup club names rodeo royalty
The Kingfisher Roundup Club was slated to crown its 2019 Rodeo Queen at the 67th annual rodeo on Saturday at the Kingfisher Roundup Club Arena. As the only contestants, Lorynn O’Brien of Hennessey will be crowned queen and twin sisters Katelyn and Karlee Harviston of Dover will share the title of rodeo princess.
Lorynn O’Brien
O’Brien is 14 years old and is the daughter of Darla O’Brien of Hennessey. She will be entering her freshman year at Hennessey High School in the fall. O’Brien has been elected as the freshman class president. She said she enjoys working her horses, tending to her family’s livestock, which includes fish and chickens, and spending time with friends. O’Brien competes in barrel racing and recently began practicing for breakaway roping. As rodeo queen, O’Brien said she hopes to serve as a good role model for other girls, both younger and older.
Katelyn and Karlee Harviston
Katelyn and Karlee are the 13-year-old twin daughters of Larry and Ashley Harviston of Dover and the granddaughters of Richard and JoAnn Holthus, also of Dover, and Roger and Penny McEarchen of Hennessey.
The Harviston twins will be eighth graders at Dover Public Schools in the fall.
They said they love to ride horses, play basketball and softball, run cross country and track, and to spend time with family and friends.
They have one older brother, Kasen.
Katelyn and Karlee said they love the sport of rodeo and are excited to share the princess title together as representatives of the Kingfisher Roundup Club.
