Run, walk for a good cause and get health screenings while you’re at it
Fall is in the air.
It’s the perfect time to lace up your running (or walking) shoes to support a good cause and maybe get a little loving from Bailey the comfort dog.
Emmanuel Lutheran Church will be hosting the Bailey the Comfort Dog 5K Fun Run and Walk at 9 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 25, at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, 124 W. Douglas Ave.
In its fourth year, the 5K and 1-mile event was previously hosted by Miriam the comfort dog, with Bailey stepping into that role last year.

Last year, the event raised $7,725 for the organization.
There is a $25 registration fee which includes an event t-shirt if submitted by Oct. 13.
Registration forms are available at the church and on Bailey’s Facebook page and can be dropped off or mailed to the church, top dog handler Keith Leimbach said.
Participants can also sign up the day of the race and a limited number of t-shirts will be available, he added.
In addition this year, Leimbach said the Kingfi sher County Health Department will be on hand to perform cholesterol and blood pressure screenings, hearing and vision exams and height and weight measurements.
They will also be offering flu shots to anyone who wants to get one, he said.
“We’re pretty excited about it and even if people don’t want to participate in the run, they should at least come out for that if they want to,” Leimbach added.
Expressing thankfulness for the great community support in the past, Leimbach said everyone is invited to come out to see Bailey, attend the fun run and support the cause.
“You don’t have to run… there’s a walk if you just want to walk…or just come by to visit and support Meals on Wheels,” Leimbach said.
Registration forms can be mailed or delivered to Emmanuel Lutheran Church, 124 W. Douglas Ave., Kingfi sher, OK, 73750. For more information contact 405368-9487.
